Always Remember 9/11/01

Like so many today, I will be spending the days remembering the 2,977 lives lost during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that forever changed this nation. I was a seventh grader sitting in geography when word first came in. I spent the rest of the day wondering what this meant for the nation and my family, as my father was about to head overseas for a military exercise.
Since that day, life has gone on. I graduated from high school, went of and then graduated from college, and I am now looking to join the work force. My dad has been on two different tours overseas, both times doing work that is protecting us and also increasing the quality of life for those individuals overseas. I have also chosen a career path to protect and serve the United States of America. My choice to serve one day was greatly influenced by 9/11/01 and also the Oklahoma City Bombing. My hope is to make a difference, just like those first responders and military personnel have made since that day.
It makes me sad, knowing that this attack will not be the last and that my kids will probably see terrorist attacks during their lifetime. Heck, in my young 23 years I have seen two major ones, but that is why I want to serve. I am going to do my part in protecting America and being the best American I can be. Let’s put our difference aside and work together to come up with a plan to bring back America. We need it. We owe it to ourselves to put forth the effort to making America a better place for ourselves and the future generations. I plan on doing that today, by giving blood and here in a few weeks becoming First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
God Bless the USA and always remember 9/11/01!
Tell me, how are you giving back and improving the future to America?
