A Fun Weekend in DC!

Sorry that I disappeared! I had a research paper due this weekend and I also had a girls afternoon with Katy on Saturday! She did a great job recapping our fun adventure at Curbside Cookoff: TrucktoberFest! You should head on over to read her recap. Here is my less than stellar thoughts and pictures (compared to Katy) on the weekend! (I could take some pointers from Katy!
)
My Saturday did not start out all that fun. I actually was called in for an interview and after an hour and a half, I was done. It was a rough hour and a half and I was ready to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and having a good time. Say a quick prayer that I am exaggerating how bad I think it went during the interview. Please and thank you.
I digress. . .
I made it over to Union Market and promptly received a text from Katy, letting me know where she was. I was so excited to meet up and catch up with her again! I am so excited that she is now in the area and I can have someone my age to hang out with. Even if she does live way out there!
I realized I had not had anything to eat and I wanted something fast. After a few walk arounds, I made a decision to go for the Gumbo. I’m not sure how I did not get a picture of my gumbo, but it was good. Maybe a bit too warm, as the day had heated up rather nicely, but good none the less. Looking back, I really wish I would have gotten a gyro. Next time!
Katy got her food, we both grabbed beers, and tried to find a table to eat. We ended up just standing at a table while we drank our beers and enjoyed our food. We made more loops around the food trucks and also stopped to listen to the band that was playing. They were really good and I enjoyed listening to them! I felt like they would be a band I would listen to in a chill bar.
Because of the warmer weather, being in jeans, and eating the gumbo, I decided to get a shake for dessert. Cookies and cream to be exact! Yum!!
An action shot of Katy when she was getting her dessert.
We headed inside after dessert to sit and to just talk. It was SO nice! Sometimes, you just need reassurance on life and to just keep doing what you are doing. We called it quits at Union Market and headed down to the National Book Festival. I had a friend back at Space Camp ask if I could get her a bag and I was happy to oblige! We got there near the end of the day and things were starting to get packed up. We found the bags, found WATER (OMG, I was SOOO thirsty!!!) and then we parted ways. I wish we would have had more time to hang out, but remember that research paper? Yep!
I was thrilled when I heard that Katy was moving to the area. I do not believe in coincidence. She was joking that I had no choice to be her friend. It is comforting to know that you are not the only one going through the same thing. We are both in that weird transition stage in life. It is good knowing that someone else, who is my new friend
, is also going through the same thing. It was a great afternoon and I cannot wait to hang out again!
I have some things in the works and I look forward to sharing them! Have a great Tuesday!!

I had such a great time! We definitely need to get together again soon!
P.S- I love that last picture of the two of us but MAN I am definitely “cheesin!” Lol.
